Teaching Academy

Teacher Academy is a relatively new program to the Career and Technical world, being launched in 2008. Teacher Academy is a two year program for high school students in the 10th and 11th grades designed to prepare students to enter into the field of teaching. The program is 2 carnegie units per year.  The program focuses on instructional strategies, communication skills, and assessment techniques.  Participants also gain in-classroom field experience, as well as interacting with the community. Through research, it is evident that the demand for teachers is steadily increasing, so Teacher Academy’s goal is to get students interested in the career at an earlier age and in return produce more teachers, as well as better equipping them for the education program at their desired colleges.
